Concrete and Rain

Protecting Concrete from Rain  Simple Guide

First of all, I would like to tell you how long concrete takes to dry and how much strength it gains over time

1 to 2 hours: Concrete starts to set, but rain can still damage it.
4 to 6 hours: Concrete becomes harder, and light rain may not cause much harm.
After 12 hours: Rain usually won’t affect it unless a lot of water collects.
After 24 hours: Concrete is strong enough, and rain won’t cause damage

Chemicals to Fast-Dry Concrete Without Strength Loss

Accelerators: Calcium Chloride, Sodium Nitrate, Calcium Nitrate, Triethanolamine
Superplasticizers: Polycarboxylate Ether (PCE), Sulfonated Naphthalene Formaldehyde (SNF)
Rapid Hardening Cement (RHC)
Silica Fume & Fly Ash

Important Things to Check Before Pouring Concrete

Site Preparation – Ensure the ground is compacted and leveled properly.
Formwork & Shuttering – Check that the formwork is strong, properly aligned, and leak-proof.
Reinforcement (Steel Bars) – Make sure steel bars are placed as per design and tied securely.
Mixing Ratio – Use the correct cement, sand, and aggregate ratio for desired strength.
Water-Cement Ratio – Avoid excess water; it weakens the concrete.
Weather Conditions – Avoid pouring in extreme heat or rain; use protection if needed.
Vibration & Compaction – Have vibrators ready to remove air pockets.
Curing Plan – Prepare for proper curing to prevent cracks and ensure strength
